Drawing Inks

We carry several differnt types of inks! These products are perfect for mixed-media, drawing, painting, calligraphy, abstract applications, and more.

Acrylic Inks: Acrylic inks are a type of ink that is made from a water-based acrylic polymer emulsion, similar to acrylic paints. They are designed to be used for fine art applications, such as painting, drawing, and printing. Acrylic inks are known for their intense colors, water-resistance, and durability. They can be used on a variety of surfaces, including paper, canvas, wood, fabric, and more.

Alcohol Inks: Alcohol inks are a type of dye-based ink that is made from alcohol and pigment. They are highly concentrated, fast-drying, and are known for their vibrant, translucent colors. They are primarily used in the fine art world for creating abstract art pieces, mixed media works, and for decorating various surfaces such as glass, ceramics, metal, and plastics.

India Inks: India ink is typically available in liquid form and is used with a dip pen or brush. It can be used on a variety of surfaces, including paper, vellum, and Bristol board, and is particularly well-suited for use on smooth surfaces where it can create crisp, clean lines.

Sumi Inks: Sumi ink is typically used with a brush, and its fluidity and consistency allow for a range of brush strokes, from delicate, fine lines to bold, expressive strokes. It can be used on a variety of surfaces, including paper, silk, and other fabrics. Traditionally, it is made from a mixture of soot and glue, typically derived from vegetable sources such as pine soot and animal glue.

Watercolor Inks: Watercolor inks, also known as liquid watercolors, are a type of watercolor paint that is premixed in a liquid form. They are typically made by diluting pigments with water and a binding agent, such as gum Arabic or glycerin. Watercolor inks are known for their vibrant, transparent colors and are often used in fine art applications, such as painting, illustration, and calligraphy. Watercolor inks are often favored by artists who enjoy the versatility of watercolor paints but prefer a more fluid and vibrant medium. They are also popular for their ability to create luminous washes of color, which can be layered and built up to create depth and texture.

Walnut Ink: Daniel Smith Walnut Ink is a type of ink that is made from the husks of walnut shells. It is a rich, dark brown color and has a warm, earthy tone that is popular among calligraphers and artists. The ink is available in liquid form and can be used with a variety of tools, including dip pens, brushes, and fountain pens. It is highly lightfast, which means that it resists fading over time, making it an excellent choice for archival works of art. The ink is also water-soluble, which means that it can be diluted with water to create lighter shades of brown and to achieve a range of tonal values.
