Take control of your art by priming your own canvas. Use bare expanses of canvas as part of the finished painting. Or you can prepare the cotton canvas to achieve the particular "look" or finish you prefer. Build a ground on the canvas by applying sizing and primer exactly the way you want, possibly lightly sanding between layers to achieve an even smoother surface. Please note that applying oil paints directly to raw canvas can be caustic to the canvas fibers, therefore, we recommend that a suitable ground is applied before oil painting.
