Description
Amate papers are handcrafted from the inner bark of the wild fig tree(xalama), the nettle tree (jonote), and mulberry (moral). Each type of bark produces a different tone of color, ranging from coffee browns to silvery whites. The bark is washed, boiled and beaten before this design is meticulously created by Otomi Indian artisans, to form each interlocking circle. Acid free and weighing approximately 150 gsm, every 15.5 x 23.5 handmade sheet is its own unique piece of paper art, suitable for framing as is, or for use in fine art and crafts, home decor projects and more.
